On to today’s workout…

Today’s guest instructor is back by popular demand!

Sarah Beth is a popular YouTube yoga instructor who just so happens to live nearby. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know her over the past few months and guess what, she’s getting married TOMORROW!

So after today’s workout be sure to congratulate her in the comments or over on her Facebook page.

A little more about Sarah Beth…

“Sarah Beth is a full-time yoga instructor living in the Denver area. She first discovered the power of yoga when she was 16 years old, and after years of an on/off practice she developed a strong, daily yoga practice. One of the best decisions she ever made was to sign up for Yoga Teacher Training so she could work within her passion, deepen her own understanding of yoga, and share it with others. Diagnosed at a young age with Ulcerative Colitis, Sarah Beth has since found yoga, meditation and diet to be her natural approach to living a healthy and happy life.

Sarah Beth completed her certification to teach through CorePower Yoga in the fall of 2010 and has since quit her job as a professional model, ran a pop-up donation-based community yoga class, started teaching on YouTube to expand her reach, and picked up some experience as a chiropractic assistant. Sarah Beth has been teaching yoga for nearly 4 years, and loves the challenge of teaching to a class, workshop or on camera! Her current life consists of wedding planning, working out, eating clean, and a whole lot of practicing, teaching and filming yoga. She currently teaches locally in the Denver area and internet-wide on YouTube through her channel SarahBethShow. Her style is strongly influenced by daily practice, functional movement and flow.

Today’s theme is relaxation. You’ve put in a lot of hard work this week so it’s time to slow down and release tension.  Sarah Beth created a restorative, “Up The Wall” sequence for us today and I think you’ll love it.

If you’re inspired to do more be sure to check out Sarah Beth Yoga on YouTube.

Self-Care Challenge…

To keep with the theme of relaxation, today’s self-care challenge will help to calm your mind.

MBM 5

Meditation doesn’t need to be scary or intimidating. You don’t have to be an expert to reap the benefits. All we’re doing today is setting a timer for 5 minutes and sitting in silence. As distracting thoughts come into your mind, simply acknowledge them and set them aside. Thoughts WILL come into your mind so don’t let that bother you.

The key is to observe of your thoughts rather than being a at the mercy of them.

Enjoy your restorative session today and be sure to subscribe to Sarah Beth’s YouTube channel for more free yoga in the future.

TODAY’S CHECK-IN: snap a photo of something that inspires you to relax. Maybe it’s your yoga mat, maybe it’s a candle, maybe it’s a beautiful sunset. There are no rules! Just be creative, tag me, and use the hashtag #mindbodymat.

Enjoy your weekend, beauties. I’ll see you back here on Monday!

xo,

  1. The link comes up as private and won’t open 🙁 Love the series so far, thanks for introducing some new exercises in!

    1. Thanks Laura! This is a setting on Sarah Beth’s end so I am waiting to hear from her. I think she scheduled it so it should be available soon…stay tuned!

  2. The link didn’t work for me either so I just choose another workout from Sara Beth’s You Tube Channel. Thanks!

    1. Stay tuned! It should be up shortly. Waiting to hear back from Sarah Beth and it’s the day before her wedding..thanks for your patience! 🙂

  3. TECHIE QUESTION: I HAVE MY LAPTOP VOLUME TURNED ALL THE WAY UP, BUT YOUR WORKOUTS [AND TODAY’S] ARE LIKE WHISPERS! Is that something that you can help with?

    1. Hi Susan,
Unfortunately that isn’t something I can help with on my end. The sound is okay on my end so there’s not much I can do there. Sorry about that!

  4. Hi I am loving the challenge. Each morning I am very excited to get to the video and my mat, and I love that you’re preparing them with us in mind every day. Today I was a little thrown off by a yoga video, I appreciate the practice of yoga but don’t practice regularly. Yoga isn’t something that I enjoy. While I connect deeply with my body through Pilates I have not achieved that connection through yoga. Maybe today’s challenge (for myself) was to accept something that wasn’t planned, and do it anyway. I followed Sarah Beth’s video – Sarah, thank you for putting this together – the first time I’ve tried restorative yoga. I am really excited for the weekend workout. Congrats to Sarah Beth – happy wedding and all the best to you in your marriage 🙂 xo Jen

    1. Hi Jen!
I’m glad you tried it. It’s always good to try something new from time to time. Even if it’s not your #1 choice for exercise there is always something you can get out of it. 🙂 And Sarah Beth is a great instructor. I’m glad you did it and I hope you enjoy your upgrade workout! Next week’s guest-instructor will be totally different. Just keeping you all on your toes! xo

  5. Love the workouts and it is motivating me even on days when I have a lot to do or am taken off schedule by family. I live in pockets of time and now I’m learning to work out in pockets of time!

Love, love, love the upgraded Pilates workout, feel fantastic & well worked! If you haven’t upgraded yet I would highly recommend 🙂
Looking forward to doing it again over the weekend x

Wow, just completed Sarah Beth’s restorative yoga video & feel completely relaxed & blissed out. Haven’t felt relaxed like that for a very long time! Thank you & Congratulations on your wedding tomorrow, have a wonderful day x

  8. Wonderful! Excellent guest teacher restorative practice! I will be looking her up on YouTube!! Thank you for this great way to end the week!

  9. This was a terrific restorative practice session. Thank you for something a little different to help open the hips!

  10. Really enjoyed this gentle routine. The delay this morning actually worked out great for me… I spent the day hiking with my dogs and just now came back to the MBM challenge before bedtime; this routine really loosened up my legs and hips after a full day of activity and helped me relax before bed. Will definitely check out Sarah Beth’s channel!

  11. Not really a fan of yoga but this work out was ok. I really enjoyed the deep stretch after a week of Pilates and HIIT workouts

  12. Ah, is it crazy that I don’t have a large enough space of wall to do this? Haha! I’m sure it’s wonderfully relaxing though.

  13. I have been following the exercise day by day, but I haven’t had time to comment or post my check in photos. I am doing it now! I am embarrassed to admit at the beginning of this video I was thinking I would really just rather do a challenging Pilates workout with Robin. Then about 4 minutes in I was like okay,,.this could really be beneficial and other than my kitten attacking my foot its REALLY relaxing. I totally retract my initial thoughts…this was so worth it. I think I want to do this every day because my hips are so incredible stiff and I feel pain in them frequently. Robin and Sarah know best! 🙂
