I have the honor of sharing one of my online clients’ success stories today. As many of you know, we just wrapped the Fall round of The Pilates Body Program. The PBP is the flagship program that I’ve been running for the past 3 years. At the end of the 6 weeks I receive email after email, story after story, from my clients sharing how the program has changed and improved their life. I don’t say this to brag. Because I don’t believe it’s MY doing. I say this to encourage you on your journey. To show you that it IS possible to see results from your workouts and eat healthy without feeling deprived, punished, guilt-ridden or frustrated.
This program works. Something magical happens when you combine Drew Parisi’s incredible meal plan with consistent, strategic Pilates workouts, email accountability and an online sisterhood of women who are seeking the same health and balance that you are.
So without further ado, I’ll let Jen share her story and Pilates before and after photos with you today. If you are inspired please post a comment and congratulate her. It can feel vulnerable sharing a personal story so I’m sure she would appreciate your support. 🙂
What did you learn from The Pilates Body Program?
Through the PBP, I addressed my issues with emotional eating – knowing the difference between needing food and needing to process emotions. I learned that I actually can lose inches and pounds in a healthy way, more than I ever have, without feeling deprived, actually feeling amazing while doing it.
I learned to be kinder to myself, to lose the negative self talk, to be more gentle to my body, and STILL see results.
I learned that I am not by myself in these feelings through meaningful communications with Robin and other in the group, I learned that a lot of women shame themselves into success, and I watched as we all changed. Before it felt like a dirty secret to shame myself into being motivated and seeing that it is unfortunately very common gave me the courage to be honest with myself.
Before the PBP I would “be healthy” for a week or so and then fall into rewarding myself with unhealthy food and drinking. I felt so worn out by having a couple of good days and then a couple of bad days. Even though I like to cook, I felt bored with my recipes, and only planned for food during the week. I’d wing it later and become frustrated with having to get food on the run or whatever I could find in the cabinets. Now I know how to plan meals for the entire week (weekends, too) and I saved so much money during the 6 weeks because I had planned. This planning went into other aspects of my life, too.
How has The Pilates Body Program affected your daily life?
I feel more comfortable in my skin, in my own head, and more confident in life. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but during the PBP, I was more mentally clear and happy, and I got a raise and a new teaching job and 3 new clients (I am a Pilates teacher) during the 6 weeks. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. 🙂
What changes have you noticed in your body and health since starting The Pilates Body Program?
I lost almost 7 inches from my waistline. 7! I lost almost 4 jean sizes, gained more muscle definition than I’ve ever seen, and my skin changed from ruddy and puffy to soft and tight. Someone told me I looked 10 years younger! In total, I’ve lost 14 pounds and will continue with this lifestyle.
More importantly, by eliminating certain things from my previous diet, I experience almost NO anxiety. I have hypoglycemia and I experienced ZERO symptoms during the PBP. And I slept really well, waking rested.
I know now that I am truly going to prioritize my health. I thought I was doing OK before the program, but now that I know how good I can actually feel, I know I will continue.
What was it like working with Robin online?
Where do I begin?! Robin is so easy to relate to. She always made me and my emotions feel significant. I found myself sharing things with her I had never expressed before, and felt great doing it because she never, ever, ever makes you feel ashamed of anything. She brought a new grace into my life I’d never experienced.
Her workouts are comprehensive. Her personality and genuineness shine through her communications and videos.
Additionally, she is so motivating! And not in the “you better do it!” kind of way – she lives the life she shares with her program participants. She was always available, funny, strong, and caring. I felt like the only person doing the PBP!
What did you find sets The Pilates Body Program apart from other programs you’ve tried?
Robin’s goal setting exercises and accountability components. You chose how much you want to check-in and she provides tools to help you do it. And the tools actually work. I took a deep, deep look at myself and my habits because of the PBP components.
The meal planning! Can’t say enough how much the practice of shopping for healthy foods and making a solid plan has positively affected my life. And the food is delicious. The facebook community is awesome, too. It’s helpful to celebrate each other’s successes an encourage each other through challenges.
The workouts! Pilates is so, so, so effective. I loved committing to 40 minutes of a workout – it felt so doable!
What is the most important thing people should know about The Pilates Body Program?
It changes your life. If you dedicate yourself to it, step by step you watch your body change; you feel your mind and emotions change; you see your habits change – I wish I would’ve found it sooner in my life. I am not perfect, nor will I ever be, but the PBP and Robin have taught me that it’s totally cool not to be perfect! Just work hard, be honest with yourself, and understand that it’s a process and a balance.
Anything else you’d like to share?
This is not a diet. You will not feel deprived and you will feel loved. I wish I would’ve found Robin earlier. I cannot believe how affordable this program is – it is truly priceless. I have recommended it to my mom and my best friends because I trust it so much.
note: please keep in mind that this is Jen’s REAL story and these are her real, un-edited photos. Be kind, be encouraging and remember that many websites you see use photoshop and editing to make images appear more drastic. I would never do that here on TBL (and for the record, I don’t even know how). Jen was beautiful before and she is beautiful now.
The next round of The Pilates Body Program (soon to be re-named The Pilates Balance Program) is scheduled for early 2015. Add your name to this list to be notified when registration is open. If you’d like to start sooner than that add your name to my VIP Waitlist and you’ll have access to all the workouts and meals through as specialized one-on-one coaching program.
Thank you Jen for sharing your story! You are a true inspiration.
PS: Have you joined in on the free Pilates For Beginners series? Every Friday I’m posting a new video that focuses on a fundamental Pilates principle. The goal is to bring it back to the basics so you get the most out of your workouts and learn how to use your body properly. Here’s what you’ve missed: what Pilates IS and IS NOT, Part One: neutral spine & basic hip mechanics, Part Two: abs – the transverse abdominis.
