Mind Body Pilates Challenge // Day 1

Hi Beauties!

Welcome to day #1 of the Mind Body Pilates challenge!

We’re kicking things off with Pilates Foundations, a 15-minute full-body Pilates workout.

In this 15-minute Pilates workout, I’ll lead you through some of the foundational Pilates principles and exercises to set you up for success. You’ll work your abs, strengthen your arms, tone your legs, breathe deeply, and release tension from your entire body.

As we kick off this challenge, let’s all embrace that we’re busy and we’re not perfect. But we’re going to do the best we can.

We’re going to take it step-by-step and day-by-day…and today? All you have to do is find time for ONE 15 minute workout.

I can’t wait for you to build strength, calm your mind, and feel AMAZING!

    When I woke up this morning I could barely move my back from sitting on my bed yesterday and sending email with a relative. I knew what it needed was so stretching from previous sitting like that (Sounds like I know better!lol). So I was anxious to see if I could even get on the mat (I’m older!) and see if this 15 minutes might help me. Yes and yes!! This was not easy for me, I’ll admit. I felt the stretch and those burns and my biggest issue was the breathing. So thank you for this 15 minutes today. I think you saved the day!!

    One month on since eye surgery so I adapted to suit my posturing but felt very beneficial after a confinement to bed and chair. Knowing my limits but ready to make small improvements!! Still sitting on my mat feeling calm x

      Hi Ann! Sorry to hear this. Try elevating yourself using a couple towels, and be sure to hydrate well before, during and after the workouts. Please be sure to get cleared by your medical provider to do Pilates!

    Recovering from torn meniscus in one knee and a broken arm! I usually exercise 5 days a week, but these injuries made it challenging. It’s nice to feel some burn by getting back to more activity. Thanks!

    Fantastic 15 minutes which went really well. I’m a 62 year old lady who fell down the stairs a week ago so struggled with some exercises due my back but did my best and feel much better. I can feel my back relaxing and staying thank you that’s just what I needed even if painful for me today. Bring on tomorrow xxx thank you so much for this xxx

    Do you have any suggestions for pain when doing the flat on the back exercises that put pressure on the upper buttocks. This is the problem I always have when I try to do Pilates. I am not sure what bones are the problem – it feels like maybe back of the pelvis but it is too painful to do about half the exercises on the back. The other exercises are fine but anything that pushes my weight into those bones hurts. I have tried a pillow in the past without much improvement but I’ll try that again. Any other suggestions would be welcome. Normally I exercise in a pool or with an inflated ball.

      Hi Alison! Pilates should never hurt so if you are in a lot of pain, we would recommend you stop and skip that move. Robin can’t give personalized advice, so please check with your medical provider to get cleared to do Pilates and to see what may be causing your pain. Be gentle and listen to your body!

    First time ever trying pilates……harder work than you make it look, but enjoyed it! Am I supposed to get cramp in the back of my thighs or am I doing something seriously wrong?

      Great job Tina! Pilates should never hurt! But for cramps, we would recommend hydrating very well before, during and after each workout. If you’ve never done Pilates or it’s been a long time, your muscles may cramp a bit as they are being used more than normal!
