3 Simple Strategies to Tone Up & Slim Down QUICKLY

Can I confess something to you?

For years I refused to wear shorts.

Looking back, I just didn’t have the confidence to show my legs.

They never fit right, never looked right and I couldn’t get over the fact that I didn’t look like the girls in the magazines so I hid my body in loose dresses and flowing skirts.

You see, skinny legs have never been my thing.

Over the years I’ve learned how to work with my unique body type and how to embrace my bigger parts and smaller parts (“little in the middle but she got much back”), but the truth is, it’s a continual process.

Looking back on those younger days it’s so obvious that I had NO idea what to do to slim down and tone up. I had no idea how to make changes in my body.

I was eating “right” (making mostly healthy choices but in now I see I was making big mistakes that I didn’t understand at the time) and exercising (some jogging, some elliptical, whatever I could force myself to do…) but nothing ever changed.

At the time, even a TINY bit of progress or change as a result of my efforts would have given me an incredible boost of confidence.

Maybe you can relate.

Feeling hopeless about your body is a depressing place to be.

In an effort to GET OUT of that depressing place we’re diving into another 3-part series together.

This series will uncover 3 things I wish I knew about slimming down and toning up.

The truth is, if you want to see BIG changes, it’s going to take time.

But sometimes we don’t have a lot of time…

Maybe you’re realizing that your summer clothes don’t fit quite like you want them to.

Maybe you have an upcoming event that you want to look and feel fabulous for.

Or maybe you’re realizing that you’ll be donning a swimsuit soon and you don’t feel quite ready for that.

Regardless of your motivation, I encourage you to read all of the posts in this series and take them to heart. I’ll be sharing the EXACT strategies I use to look and feel my best before a vacation, event or photo shoot.

3 simple strategies

Simple Strategy  #1: Choose Liquids Wisely

When thinking about losing weight or getting fit, food and exercise usually come to mind.

But how often do you think about what you drink throughout the day?

If you want to see QUICK results here are a few changes that will have a big impact:

1.  Drink More Water

Your body and muscles are made up of 75% water. Water helps to carry oxygen and nutrients to your cells while also flushing toxins from your system and burning more calories.

Your body NEEDS water to function optimally. Staying hydrated will help with cravings, bloating and energy. Aim for 64 – 75 oz of water per day.

BONUS: add fresh lemon to reduce bloating and increase detoxification benefits.

2. Avoid Carbonation

Skipping soda is a no-brainer. The sugar in soda is detrimental to your health. But beyond that, if you’re looking to slim down quickly, try eliminating ALL carbonated beverages and see how you feel. You’ll likely notice that your tummy feels flatter and your waist feels smaller.

4. Skip the Starbucks

Coffee, tea and Americanos can stay, but skip the sugar-laden lattes if you’re looking to slim down quickly.

It’s a simple change that will help you see fast results.

And yes, I’m even talking to you, the “skinny latte” lovers. Sugar-free syrup can disrupt digestion leading to more bloat and more discomfort.

5. Avoid Alcohol

I know, I know, I sound like the fun police right now… but often this change alone will lead to a drop on the scale. Even more important than that you’ll find yourself with better self-control, better sleep and more energy. All good things when you’re trying to look and feel better fast.

What to do right now: fill your water bottle and implement this strategy for the next few days.

I’ll be writing again on Monday so aim to follow these guidelines until then. Pay attention to how you feel and keep me posted!

Come over to my Facebook page and tell me ONE positive change you’re going to make to your daily beverage intake.

I’m excited to share more simple strategies with you in the coming days. Be sure to get on this email list so that you don’t miss a post.

No alcohol memorial day weekend? BBQs galore, that’s going to be tough.

Excellent tips! This is something I have been doing for the past few years and it does work!! I feel SO much better on a day to day basis when I stick to it.

Robin, This is just so good. Carbonation is definitely a big no but avoiding alcohol often gets tough though. All in all, I can relate to all these tips as I have been to that chubby part and I have tried these things and i certainly know that these things work. Thanks for sharing valuable stuff. 🙂
